The Recreational Therapy Internship is a hands-on learning experience for individuals interested in pursuing a career in Recreational Therapy. The internship is designed to provide interns with the opportunity to work with veterans and other individuals with disabilities to improve their physical, emotional, and social well-being through recreational activities.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and implementing recreational activities for veterans and other individuals with disabilities
• Assist in assessing the needs and abilities of individuals to determine appropriate recreational activities
• Assist in maintaining equipment and supplies for recreational activities
• Assist in documenting progress and outcomes of Recreational Therapy interventions
• Assist in providing education and training to individuals and their families on the benefits of Recreational Therapy
• Assist in collaborating with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to individuals

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a college or university program in Recreational Therapy or a related field
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work with individuals with disabilities
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
