As a Recreational Therapist, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing medically approved recreation therapy programming. Your creativity and expertise will be invaluable in developing and leading engaging and instructive group activities focused on character development, leisure education, wellness, symptom management, and coping skills. You will complete thorough assessments, develop patient goals/objectives, and track progress to ensure the effectiveness of your interventions. Your collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, attendance at rounds and meetings, and reporting on patient progress and concerns will contribute to the holistic care of our patients. Safety is a top priority, and you will maintain current certifications and knowledge of policies and procedures for conducting sessions on the ropes course, in the pool area, in the garden, and during therapeutic outings. Effective communication with nursing staff before and after each session will ensure the well-being and safety of our patients. Collaboration is key! You will work closely with other Recreational Therapists and Activities Assistants.
Requirements
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE; CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
Certification in Recreational Therapy through the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation (NCTRC). Must have valid and current Montana driver's license. Must obtain shallow water lifeguard certification and attend Youth Mental Health First Aid and CPI training during probationary period of employment. Position requires Criminal Records Background Check and drug test.
