Recreational Therapist

Dependable Staffing Agency is looking to hire compassionate and competent Recreational Therapist. These are immediate openings with both full-time and part-time shifts available. Location: Crescent City, CA (PBSP) 

Division: Corrections

Qualification Requirements:

1. Minimum of twelve (12) continuous months of experience within the last three (3) years performing services similar in scope to those defined herein in a public or private institution.
2. All Recreation Therapists must have the required licenses, permits and/or certifications noted herein.
3. Patient-Inmate/Youth healthcare is of paramount importance. Accuracy in communications is critical to ensure timely, and competent care is provided.
4. Recreational Therapists must be able to speak and understand oral and written communication. Accurate and effective writing in English is also required.
5. Education must be equivalent to graduation from an accredited and/or recognized college with a major work in therapeutic recreation, or in recreation with an emphasis in therapeutic recreation. ( Education/Major must have included supervised fieldwork approved by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC) or the California Board of Recreation and Park Certification (CBRPC).

 Delivery Requirements:

 The Respiratory Care Practitioner must be able to work in conditions that require all of the following essential functions:

1. Develop and implement specialized recreation therapy services to the Department of Corrections Patient-Inmates and/or DJJ Youth
2. Participate in the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (IDTT) and coordinate services with primary clinicians, correctional counselors, and other custody personnel.
3. Evaluate recreation therapy needs for Patients-Inmates and/or DJJ Youth with particular attention to activities of daily living, communication skills, physical exercise, and positive coping strategies.
