Recreational therapy employs leisure activities to help patients with disabilities or illnesses. Through the use of games, sports, crafts and more, Recreational Therapy serves to maintain the patient's physical and emotional well-being.
Required SkillsCertified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist Certification required. Certifications: Current American Heart Association BLS certification or obtained within 90 days after hire date. Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Language Skills: Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Minimum Work ExperienceTwo (2) years experience in a social or recreational program within the past five (5) years, one (1) of which was full time in a psychiatric activities program in a healthcare setting, preferred.
