We are seeking a Recreational Therapist to provide patient activities in an in-patient psychiatric facility. Make a difference in someone's life by joining Desert Winds Hospital a new behavioral health hospital.
Recreational Therapist Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate responsibility for observation and application of sound judgment in patient's physical and mental condition and needs.
- Observe and document changes in patient's appearance, behavior, and ability to work towards treatment plan goals.
- Communicate changes in patient's condition to Charge Nurse or Program Manager.
- Provide assessment in psychosocial/leisure and recreational skills development/deficiency
- Ensure timely documentation of interventions and ensure interventions are based on the patient's plan of care.
- Apply appropriate crisis intervention techniques, as required.
- Assist patients in achieving their optimum level of independent functioning.
- Document services rendered in accordance with established criteria.
Recreational Therapist Qualifications:
Education / Licensure / Certification:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Recreation Therapy or related therapeutic discipline.
- Certification by national governing body, NCTRC or eligible for licensure/certification. Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) required.
- Experience with therapeutic limit-setting helpful or an understanding of level systems or other behavior management modalities helpful.
Additional Requirements:
Timely renewal of cardiopulmonary resuscitation for healthcare professional’s certification, annual professional skills verification and CPI certification. Classes are provided by Desert Winds Hospital.
