Under the general supervision of the Parks Permits Officer, will be required to independently organize and manage the shore water events permitting process/system/program, review shore water event applications and inquiries, develop/determine the shore water events calendar, conduct reviews on the shore water events permitting process/system/program and make recommendations and improvements. Visit parks island wide to address and ensure compliance with park rules, permitted activities, and requirements related to shore water and park use; and performs other related duties as required.

There is one (1) vacancy with the Department of Parks and Recreation, Executive Services Division. Position is located in Honolulu. May be required to work weekends, holidays, and evenings. Position also serves as a Disaster Response Worker during declared emergencies.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:

Substitution: Work experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis. Such experience must have provided the knowledge, skills, and analytical ability normally gained from attainment of a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Three (3) years of recreation experience, one (1) year of which shall have been in planning, organizing, coordinating and/or directingrecreational shore water programs and/or activities (e.g. sail race, jet ski race, paddle board race, surf event, canoe race, windsurfing, scuba, snorkeling, etc.).

Substitution: A Master's degree in recreation, physical education, or education from an accredited four-year college or university may be substituted for one (1) year of the general recreation experience requirement. There is no substitution for the required one (1) year of experience in the specialty area of planning, organizing, coordinating and/or directingrecreational shore water programs and/or activities.
