TUKWILA COMMUNITY CENTER AFTER SCHOOL YOUTH AND TEEN PROGRAMS
RECREATION LEADER 1
The Tukwila Community Center is looking to hire multiple Recreation Leaders to work with our Youth and Teens for our After School Programs or Teen Late Night Program! This is a great opportunity to serve as a positive role model and make a difference in your community!
Recreation Leaders will be engaged with youth and teens, through games and a variety of fun activities in a safe environment and will assist in planning & implementing games, activities and arts & crafts for assigned programs. Leaders will serve as positive role models every day and will have the chance to make a difference!
Note: These are non-benefited positions working up to 20 hours per week. All positions are limited duration, part-time and will not exceed 1040 hours in a 12-month period.

- After School Youth and Teen Programs - Hours typically Monday-Friday 3:00pm-6:00pm
- Teen Late Night Program - Fridays 7:30-11:30 pm

Hourly Wage:
$19.00 - $21.00/hour *depending on experience
Selection process:The screening process will include a review of minimum qualifications and applicants selected for an interview will be contacted via email and/or phone. At minimum, this position will be subject to a standard criminal background check.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists with general supervision, of youth and teen programs.
- Safeguards program participants and provides for a clean and safe working environment.
- Maintains and oversees the proper use of equipment and supplies by participants.
- Completes and maintains proper forms, reports, and information for recreation staff.
- Enforces facility, equipment, and program rules and regulations, taking appropriate corrective action with participants when necessary.
- Assist with planning, scheduling, and organizing of various youth events and activities.
- Other duties vary based on specific responsibilities for each position.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Friendly, positive and supportive customer service skills to respond to public inquiries regarding programs and activities;
- Physical ability sufficient to perform the essential functions of the position;
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing;
- Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with program participants, volunteers, and the general public; (E) Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision.
Education, Experience and Other Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
(A) Minimum of 16 years old; (B) Currently enrolled in High School, and satisfactory progress while enrolled is required, or possess a High School Diploma or GED; (C) Strong interest and ability to lead activities in art, sports and games for youth; (D) Previous knowledge and experience with youth programs curriculum, policies and procedures desired.
Special Requirements:
-Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License/ID or have the ability to obtain prior to employment.
-Must be physically capable of assisting and participating in physical activities.
-Maintain current CPR/First Aid certifications, or the ability to obtain prior to employment.
