General Description

Under the guidance of the Fitness and Wellness Director, the Recreation Aide will devise and implement various activities that promote occupational health and safety; plan, set up, and lead promotional activities, and support the fitness center by creating and maintaining a welcoming atmosphere for all members and guests. The Recreation Aide will promote fitness through different strategies and health programs.

How You Will Fulfill Your Mission

  • Responsible for greeting all members and assisting them with any questions or concerns as they check-in.
  • Conduct fitness floor and facility orientations with new members explaining how equipment should be used and the benefits of each machine.
  • Responsible for setting up group fitness classes.
  • Lead and participate in wellness fairs, lectures, seminars, and workshops on a variety of nutritional and exercise health topics.
  • Assists with wellness events and promotes fitness offerings at NASA Headquarters
  • Track membership statistics, including membership numbers and member attendance.
  • Learn and shadow all fitness professional staff.
  • Oversee the Microsoft NASA HQ Fitness Teams page and subsequent channels.
  • Assist with marketing/graphics of wellness programming and agency communications for wellness programming.

Specific Knowledge/Certification Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Highschool Diploma
  • Fitness Certifications such as ACE, NASM, ACSM

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current CPR and AED certifications preferred but required within 30 days of employment.
