We are adding a BRAND NEW role to our hospital to assist with Clinical Care within the surgery department. If you enjoy caring for patients who need pre/post-surgical or anesthesia nursing care, this may be the role for you!

About the Hospital:
NEAMC is located between two major highways in West Bridgewater, Massachusetts, which is easily accessible from Boston, Cape Cod, and Rhode Island. Our facility is equipped with Emergency, Critical Care, Anesthesia, Surgery, Diagnostic Imaging, and General Practice.
About You:

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to make sound decisions in fast-paced environments
  • Excellent communication skills for interactions with veterinarians, team members, and clients
  • Enjoy working with both people and animals
  • Strong multitasking and creative thinking abilities
  • Knowledge of common disease states and the ability to recognize changes in patient conditions
  • Certification or degree in Veterinary Technology is preferred

Compensation: based on education, knowledge, and skill set.
  • Range: $23 - $28

Schedule:
  • Four 9-hour shifts between M-F (can be four 10- hour shifts if you prefer)
  • NO WEEKENDS!

What to Expect:
In this role, you will utilize your complete skill set from technical skills, patient & emergent care, to collaborating & training while leading by example.
  • Reviewing the appointment schedule and plan for upcoming procedure
  • Assess patient status and perform treatments according to veterinarian orders
  • Monitor patients for any changes, cleanliness, and document activities in medical records
  • Recognize signs of pain and discomfort, understanding medications and methods for pain control
  • Manage emergency patient care and promptly alert veterinarians to significant changes
  • Perform emergency procedures such as shock assessment, control of hemorrhage, and airway management
  • Work closely with Surgical Techs and Assistants for safe and expedited patient discharges
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure a smooth transition for patients returning home
  • Provide training, supervision, and leadership to other NEAMC team members
  • Set a positive example, promote a constructive work environment, and motivate co-workers
  • Perform outpatient procedures (nail trims, ear cleanings, anal gland expression, etc.)
  • Safely and humanely restrain patients for various procedures
  • Administer injectable, topical, and oral medications as prescribed
  • Perform venipuncture and place IV catheters, administer IV fluids using an IV pump
  • Conduct cystocentesis and manage urinary catheters
  • Be proficient in nasal intubation for oxygen administration
