We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Records Technician to join our growing orthodontic practice. As an Orthodontic Records and Sterilization Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the efficiency and cleanliness of the orthodontic practice. Your primary responsibilities will include managing patient records, ensuring the sterilization and cleanliness of equipment and instruments, and providing support to the orthodontic team as needed. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, adherence to strict sterilization protocols, and excellent organizational skills.
Responsibilities:
Patient Records Management:
- Accurately maintain and organize patient records, including medical histories, treatment plans, and progress notes.
- Ensure confidentiality and security of patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist in the preparation and completion of consent forms, treatment contracts, and other necessary documentation.
Sterilization and Infection Control:
- Follow established sterilization protocols to ensure the cleanliness and sterility of instruments and equipment.
- Operate and maintain sterilization equipment according to manufacturer guidelines.
- Monitor and record sterilization parameters, including time, temperature, and pressure.
- Maintain a clean and organized sterilization area, including proper storage of sterilized instruments.
Instrument Maintenance:
- Clean, disinfect, and prepare orthodontic instruments for sterilization.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on equipment and instruments to ensure proper functioning.
- Identify and report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel.
Assistance to Orthodontic Team:
- Assist orthodontists and orthodontic assistants with patient care as needed, including chairside support during procedures and front desk duties.
- Prepare treatment rooms for patient visits, ensuring all necessary instruments and supplies are readily available.
- Communicate effectively with team members to facilitate smooth workflow and patient care.
Compliance and Safety:
- Adhere to all OSHA, CDC, and infection control guidelines to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
- Participate in ongoing training and education on Sterilization Techniques, infection control practices, and safety protocols.
- Maintain proper documentation of sterilization processes and equipment maintenance records.
Requirements:
Experience and Education: Previous experience in the orthodontic or dental field is preferred. A background in dental assisting or sterilization along with knowledge of orthodontic procedures and terminology, is an asset.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly with people of all ages and backgrounds.
Empathy and Compassion: A genuine concern for patients' well-being and the ability to build trusting relationships, providing emotional support throughout their treatment journey.
Organizational Skills: Highly organized and detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
Team Player: Collaborative and willing to work closely with the orthodontic team to ensure seamless patient care and practice success.
