Overview:
The Town of Alstead is seeking an organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Recording Secretary. As Recording Secretary, you will play a crucial role in providing administrative support and ensuring transparency in our local government. This is a part-time position, typically attending only one meeting a week and producing meeting minutes by a certain deadline.
Responsibilities:
- Attend weekly Select Board meetings, including any non-public sessions.
- Take notes, answer questions, and provide information that may be contained in previous meeting minutes.
- Utilize audio recordings of meetings to transcribe detailed minutes.
- Minutes must be ready in draft form by the statutory deadlines set in NH RSA 91-A
- If audio recording is not available or useful for any reason, use the notes taken during the meeting to produce minutes.
- Email draft minutes to Selectmen and Office Administrator for review.
- Record any changes to the draft minutes made during the meeting at which they are reviewed.
- Post approved minutes to the Town website
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an administrative assistant, secretary, or similar role
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe, and other relevant software applications
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and document preparation
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Municipal experience preferred but not mandatory
