Recipient Rights Officer

We are the behavioral health community organization responsible for the delivery of mental health, substance abuse treatment coordination, and developmental disabilities services for Kent County. We need individuals who are passionate about making a difference by helping others.
We are seeking a Recipient Rights Officerto assure the agency operates a Recipient Rights System for behavioral health and substance use disorder services that complies with federal and state requirements.
This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm . No weekends or Holidays. A flexible HYBRID WORKing arrangement may be available for this position. The employee may perform work from a home office or work site during regular business hours.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in social sciences, human services, or related field.
  • At least one year of professional experience in dispute resolution, report writing, and/or advocacy within a private or public human services agency (or comparable experience) required.
  • Proficient computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Successful completion of MDHHS-ORR Basic Skills training, or ability to successfully complete within three months of hire; completion of ongoing training as required.
  • Demonstrated experience managing confidential information and/or sensitive information in a professional manner.
  • Lived experiences with mental illness/developmental disabilities/substance use disorders valued.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for job related use.
  • Ability to react and professionally under pressure while engaging with individuals who may be experiencing a time of crisis or complex physical and behavioral/mental health needs.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with individuals with mental illness and individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
  • Ability to independently prioritize and manage time in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with peers and other community colleagues in a professional environment.
  • Ability to clearly convey information to individuals in groups or public settings.
  • Ability to quickly analyze data and other information, make clear decisions based upon the information, and accurately document this process in writing.
