The Gund Company is looking for a Receiving/WarehouseLevel 1 to join our team!

Shift: First (8:30 am-5:00 pm, Mon-Fri)

Hourly wage: $20 - $23

Work Location: 10501 W 133rd Ave, Cedar Lake, IN 46303

Job Summary

  • Receive and Inspect incoming raw material using a micrometer, caliper, and tape measure (80% of the work day).
  • Receiving the material in and putting away truck deliveries.
  • Implement the Order Fulfillment Process steps related to the preparation of shipments and related documentation to ensure the complete satisfaction of the customer’s requirements.
  • Using appropriate packing material to prevent breakage or damage; closing and sealing container; and applying labels or entering identifying data on container.
  • Workers will use bar code readers, computer terminals or other electronic devices to track product.
  • Operate a sit down forklift daily.
  • Build crates using saws and hand tools.


Requirements:

Essential Job Functions

  • Inspect and count incoming raw material using a micrometer, caliper, and tape measure.
  • Consolidate new raw material with stock material utilizing FIFO (first in first out).
  • Receive material into Visual ERP system.
  • Create receiving check in forms and skid labels.
  • Operate forklift .
  • Load and unload trucks.
  • Perform material cycle counts.
  • Match work order/packing slip documentation to order documentation to verify all critical shipment data.
  • Prepare outgoing skids for customers (Shrink wrap, banding, etc.).
  • Make boxes, crates or skids, may be required to operate a table saw or other hand tools.
  • Keep warehouse clean and organized.

Requirements

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Ability and comfortable operating a forklift.
  • Requires the ability to read production or shipping documents.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Perform work independently with minimal defects.
  • Communicate with supervisor on work order priority.
  • Open to change due to emergency orders or fabrication of parts.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed.

Education and Experience

  • Basic to intermediate math skills, required.
  • Proficient computer skills to include database entry, e-mail usage required.
  • Ability to learn and understand drawing and blueprints, required.
  • Ability to use basic measuring instruments, required.
  • ERP System experience, preferred.
  • A High School Diploma or GED, preferred.
  • Prior hands on, vocational or job-related course work/training, preferred.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing industry, preferred.

Work Environment

The work environment is typical of most shop environments; not climate controlled and subject to outdoor weather conditions. Team members are exposed to sounds and noise levels that are distracting.

  • Frequent exposure to fumes/dust particles; may require use of respirators or other types of PPE.
  • May come in contact with toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
