We are looking for upbeat and positive people who have a passion for fitness and health.

This position will be working alongside Active-Duty Marines, their family members, and authorized patrons. Candidates selected for this position will serve as a Lead Recreation Assistant and Fitness Specialist. Major Duties Provides physical fitness training to authorized patrons to include Active Duty, Retirees, Family Members, and Department of Defense (DoD) Civilian employees.

Organizes and conducts physical fitness assessments to include: screening and risk stratification, measurement and evaluation of an individual's aerobic capacity, body fat percentage, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, blood pressure, and interpretation of assessment results. Provides individualized exercise plans. Incumbent will work with populations deemed to be healthy, with no health risk factors, and who were not referred by a physician.

Provides instruction and consultation on proper exercise techniques to individual and groups, and implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive fitness program to improve aerobic fitness, muscular fitness, body composition and flexibility. Instructs patrons in proper use of exercise equipment while training and how to self-monitor progress either verbally or by composing written instructions for use of equipment, safety and well-being. Coordinates with command representatives to develop and implement physical fitness programming for Active Duty military personnel.

Register patrons for group exercise classes, collect fees, maintain patron attendance and accounting records, and ring up retail items associated with the program. May be responsible for opening and/or closing of the facility and securing cash drawer funds at the end of the day. Assists in cleaning and maintaining exercise equipment in proper condition.

Ensures adherence to safety rules and regulations. Helps to plan and coordinate recreational activities and assists in the maintenance of related supplies. Assists in planning, scheduling, and publicizing various activities to attract and motivate participants.

Incumbent will serve as a role model and team lead when area supervisor is not on site. Relays instructions gets work started and sets the pace. Will perform supervisory duties in an emergency, or short-term and nonrecurring basis.

Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly.

Alerts the higher-level supervisor or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.

Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment. This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED required. One year of experience within the health/fitness industry is preferred. Candidate must possess and maintain a basic level certification from a nationally accredited certifying organization.

A certifications from one of the following associations is required; American Council on Exercise (ACE) American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) National Association of Sports Medicine (NASM) National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA) Candidate must be able to demonstrate knowledge of and skill to administer fitness assessments, progressive individual fitness plans and proper exercise techniques. Knowledge of established exercise principles, concepts and techniques to plan and conduct fitness testing, interpret results and develop fitness plans. Candidate must possess a current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or obtain within 6 months of hire.
