What You'll Do:
Promote Safety. Takes an active role in prioritizing safety for yourself and others. Trains new hires on Vulcan policies and procedures, ensuring they have a thorough understanding of expectations in regards to the safe and efficient operation of a ready mix concrete delivery vehicle.
Coordinator. Coordinates the assignments of the ready-mix Driver Trainers. Works with Plant Supervisors, Production Managers, and Quality Control to ensure the drivers are efficiently and safely delivering a quality product to the customer.
Hiring and Training. Participate in selection, hiring, training, and performance management process. Conducts effective employee onboarding ensuring employees are properly task trained, site-specific trained, and understand job/company expectations. Oversees both classroom and on the job training.
Operate Equipment. This role will have a dual responsibility to operate a ready-mix truck in accordance with all federal, state, and Vulcan regulations during periods when not actively Hiring or Training. This includes operating a Ready-Mix truck to receive a load, evaluate slump, and drive to the job site. Maneuver truck on job site, attach chutes to discharge material, and clean truck to minimize concrete buildup.
Manage Expectations. Evaluate progress of new hires and make determinations on readiness of new employees to deliver concrete products without assistance from assigned Driver Trainer. Complete and sign off on task training for new employees at 30, 60. and 90 days.
Communicate Effectively. Maintain high visibility and communicate regularly with employees. Work to build positive attitudes through good leadership and employee engagement.
Additional Responsibilities. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Skills You'll Need:
Ready to Drive. Must possess a commercial driver's license and have a valid DOT physical or the ability to get one.
Education. Bachelor's Degree preferred with consideration for requisite experience.
Experience. Completion of Vulcan's Concrete Operations Training Program. Requisite experience and training in ready-mix concrete. Working knowledge of production, transport, and delivery of ready-mix concrete. Knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations.
Leadership and Management Skills. Must be able to provide strong leadership and mentorship to employees, both direct and indirect reports, to motivate and maintain interpersonal relationships.
Problem-Solving Skills. Must have the ability to work independently and problem solve while working alone or as part of a team.
Communication. Excellent communication skills are required.
Computer Skills. Proficient computer skills are required.
