SalaryAt Mindful with Children (MWC), we pride ourselves on supporting the holistic growth of children. This means providing them the academic support they need, while at the same serving as a partner in the support of their growing confidence, positive self concept, and independence. We are looking to add talented, caring educators to our team who have a passion for working with children in this capacity. We are specifically looking to bring on board specialists who have a background in teaching children how to read. Each Reading Specialist we hire will be paired with a child diagnosed with a reading-based learning need for work in a 1:1 capacity. Our Reading Specialists will often be contracted for between one and three sessions per week (per family, you may opt to work with more than one family), lasting for one hour each session (usually somewhere between the hours of 4-8 M-Th, but you will be able to work out your own schedule with the partnering family). Required Qualifications*:
- Master's Degree
- Access to a reliable car or alternate means of transportation
- Established proficiency in subject matter
- Experience teaching and/or supporting students within the range of grades K to 12
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
*Candidates holding certification in a research-based reading-instructional program will be prioritized (for example, Orton Gillingham, Wilson/Fundations, and the Lucy Calkins Reading and Writing Program).
In addition, all Reading Specialists applying for a position with us will need to pass a background check and be cleared to work with children through the American Fingerprinting Services or an alternately accredited organization.
In some cases, our Reading Specialists have the opportunity to work over Zoom with the student that they are supporting. In-person sessions that take place are often happening outside, with both specialist and student masked and physically distanced. During in-person situations, both families and Reading Specialists will also be required to strictly follow all CDC safety protocols, as well as sign a release.
