JOB DESCRIPTION



Job Title:Reading Room Assistant Department: Reading Room
Reports To: Clinical Operations Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Approved by: CIO

Job Location:This position is onsite in Springdale, AR with occasional travel to Bentonville, AR.

Base Pay: $16.50 - additional pay considered commensurate with experience



SUMMARY: Assist RAPA Radiologists and supporting clinical staff with all tasks
necessary to maintain efficiency of physician time and radiology study workflow. Serve
as liaison between hospital personnel and RAPA physicians, administration, and business
office staff as needed.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
These functions are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and
requirements of the job. Other functions may be assigned as business conditions change.
This position is a safety sensitive position.



1. Organizes current and prior images and electronic/paper documentation to
expedite study interpretation by the RAPA Radiologists.

2. Initiates and coordinates receipt of prior images from referring physicians,
other imaging facilities, and the local hospital PACS (as needed).

3. Calls and/or faxes reports to referring physicians, emergency rooms and
downstream hospitals/clinics within agreed upon turnaround times.

4. Acts as the communication coordinator between the RAPA Radiologist,
RAPA clinical supporting staff, local hospital/facility staff and/or any other
third parties requested.

5. Acts as the primary screener of inbound phone calls – prioritizing calls
affecting patient care and coordinating responses on behalf of the RAPA
Radiologist.

6. Responds to all Radiologist study-related requests in an efficient manner to
optimize Radiologist workflow and study turnaround times. Acts as the
“owner” for these issues and works in conjunction with other RAPA
departments to resolve concerns.

7. Performs errands for the RAPA Radiologist within the local hospital (as
directed) to ensure efficient operations of the Reading Room and overall study
workflow.

8. Act as liaison between RAPA and the hospital personnel for forms and
communication of changes (where applicable). Distribute and forward forms
to appropriate RAPA and hospital personnel as required.

9. Troubleshoot issues with patient demographics. Inform the front desk,
business office or other departments of the finding or error.

10. Always maintains patient confidentiality and privacy.

11. Participates actively in other duties as assigned.

12. Demonstrates the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe
manner.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent. Six (6) months related experience and/or training; or
equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in a medical
environment is preferred, but not required.



LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read documents – such as patient records and instructions. Ability to write
memos and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to patients, physicians and
outside related representatives or employees of the organization.



MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to perform basic math.



REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved
written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete
variables in standardized situations.

Ability to operate office equipment including telephone, computer, printers, scanners,
copier, and fax.
