What part will you play?
The Summer 2024 Power Electronics Internship is a paid intern experience based in our San Jose location. This is a unique opportunity to work closely with the GAF Energy R&D team who are leaders in the research, development, and innovation of next-generation solar roofing. The successful candidate will work on forward-looking research projects, under the direction of senior engineers. We are looking for an intern who is highly motivated, naturally curious, and has a passion for power conversion for solar energy. The candidate will join us for an 8-12 week internship where they will learn about solar BIPV, RnD, and the applications of Power Electronics in this field.
What will you be doing?
The candidate will develop Embedded Control for the Wireless power-transmission system patented by GAF Energy. The project starts with the study of the existing system, developing a new control algorithm through Simulation, and validating it experimentally by implementing it into the existing setup. The candidate will also drive further progress by focusing on performance optimization and scalability of the technology.

What do we require from you?
- A graduate student in electrical engineering or Power Electronics with the following skills:
- Working knowledge of embedded systems, TI code composer studio, and C2000 DSP controllers for digital control of power converters
- Power converter modeling with MATLAB/SIMULINK
- Knowledge of resonant wireless power transfer and resonant power converters
- Knowledge of loosely coupled magnetic components
