The Impact You'll Make in this Role
As an R&D IT GTCS Supervisor you will manage a portfolio of CAD, CAE, CAM and other R&D and engineering applications. The Global Technical Computing Services (GTCS) team supports the global [3M Health] R&D and Engineering community with the applications that they depend on to deliver the best-in-class products and technologies that Make 3M Health a leader in the Health Care space. It also maintains and supports the high-performance computing environment that enables the 3M modeling & simulation experts get the most out of our software.
In this position you will have the opportunity to leverage your expertise to partner with some of the most innovative engineers and researchers in the world. Here you will make an impact by:
  • Partner with the Engineering, Product Design and Modeling & Simulation leaders to define best practices, optimize integrations, provide rich self-service content, and manage L1/L2 support functions.
  • Facilitate an internal center of excellence to provide support, develop templates, automations, and training through management of employees and contractors.
  • Management of our HPC environment, application distribution (Prism Deploy), updates, and software customizations when necessary.
  • Maintain a pool of license servers, license management (Flexera FNMEA), and relevant usage metrics for evaluation.
  • Optimize the cost of our investment in your portfolio by working with our vendors and sourcing.

Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited university and 7 years of hands-on experience working in a CAD/CAM/CAE environment.

OR
  • High School Diploma/GED from an accredited institution and a minimum of 12+ years of experience CAD/CAM/CAE environment in lieu of the bachelor's degree education requirement

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and team collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated computer administration, networking and troubleshooting skills.
  • Product / Project management experience with CAD and modeling/simulation tools (ex: AutoCAD, Matlab, Siemens NX, ANSYS, Abaqus)
  • Customer support experience, including managing/assisting L1/L2 functions.
  • Experience working in a PLM system managing CAD and simulation data.
  • Experience with vendor management, software purchases, and renewals.
  • Ability to multi-task, learn, and work independently.

The expected compensation range for this position is $133,435 - $163,088, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience. In addition, this position may be eligible for a range of benefits (e.g., Medical, Dental & Vision, Health Savings Accounts, Health Care & Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, Disability Benefits, Life Insurance, Voluntary Benefits, Paid Absences and Retirement Benefits, etc.).
