Our growing eye care organization has an immediate need for a Financial Clearance Specialist

JOB SUMMARY:

Obtaining and maintain proper authorizations for services.
Coordinate and maintain patient assistance program requirements.
Verify all insurance eligibility and benefits.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


1. High School diploma or equivalent.
2. Two (2) years minimum in a medical practice insurance office.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Excellent communication skills.
2. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
3. Ability to work as a team member.
4. Strong computer skills


RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Verify all patient insurance benefits and eligibility prior to each date of service.
2. Contacts patient, other providers, or insurance companies for updated insurance
information as needed.
3. Verifies network status of patient insurance and provides patients and staff with this
information as needed.
4. Research patient insurance benefits for preauthorization/referrals required.
5. Completes appropriate insurance requests and monitors to ensure authorizations are
in place prior to the date of service.
6. Coordinates the submission of clinical documentation from physicians to payers for
authorization.
7. Request and maintain active patient assistance eligibility and enrollment.
8. Calculate and communicate effectively accurate patient financial responsibility.
9. Accurately documents patient accounts to reflect all actions taken, or status of
eligibility/authorizations, in billing system.
10. Responds to inquiries from staff, physicians, patients and referring provider offices in
a professional and caring manner.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
