What You'll Do
The Ramp Supervisor is responsible for exhibiting a safe & conscious mindset to oversee and facilitate the workload requirements while following through on all production, efficiently and safely, in meeting or exceeding client's expectations in a fast-paced outdoor environment.
Responsibilities
  • Assisting in the loading/unloading of container & trailer equipment on/off rail cars.
  • Mount or demount of chassis
  • Place and strip units to and from rail site as well as designated parking assignments
  • Forecasting and planning necessarily in order to devise an accurate daily terminal plan.
  • Provides supervisory support for the Intermodal Terminal Facility and has the responsibility for the success of the terminal performance.
  • Responsible for working as a member and facilitator of the team to schedule and coordinate the workload as directed based on the Client's needs.
  • Facilitate pre-shift job briefings to include work schedules, daily work plan, safety awareness, and any other updates.
  • Ensure pre-shift and post-shift cursory vehicle inspections of equipment are performed as required and record keeping is maintained.
  • Perform securement quality audits as required in respect to loading and unloading of intermodal equipment and maintain audit records.
  • Ensure accurate records are continually maintained for the organization of containers, trailers, and chassis in the yard inventory.
  • Understand and obey all intermodal regulations and yard safety policies and procedures while performing the required audits and monitoring performance indicators.
  • At all times wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ensure staff conformity.

What You'll Need
Required
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • At least two years of intermodal facility, or management experience.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle record (MVR)
  • Ability to operate efficiently using the client's terminal operating systems (TOS) and any other computer systems required for terminal operations.
  • Ability to gather and interpret data required for terminal performance measurements.
  • Proven ability to manage, develop, and lead a team to successfully execute client workload.
  • Ability to adjust to changing facility demands as requested by the client's requirements and commitments due to seasonal variances, disrupted work schedules, and industry needs.
  • Knowledge of, and experience in, operating a crane, side loader, and hostler.

Preferred
  • Commercial driver's license (CDL) (not required)
  • Bachelor's degree

  • This role requires employees to be on-site during shifts.
