Departmental Overview
UC Berkeley's University Health Services (UHS) is a comprehensive college health service providing fully accredited, primary medical care, counseling and psychological services, and innovative health promotion programs for students, faculty, and staff. UHS provides on-campus medical care and coordinates supplemental needs for off-campus care through a network of community specialists and hospitals. UHS manages the student health insurance and workers' compensation insurance programs.
Approximately 65,000 visits occur annually including Primary Care, Urgent Care, Occupational Health and Specialty Clinics. Services are designed to minimize the impact of illness, emotional distress and injury on studies and work. The Social Services (SOS) unit offers short-term counseling, groups, case management and nutrition services to the campus student population. Counseling staff consists of social workers who provide compassionate specialty counseling on a range of specific and highly sensitive topics. Coupled with health promotion and public health programs, UHS reaches all segments of the Berkeley campus community. Learn more about UHS by visiting uhs.berkeley.edu .
Responsibilities

  1. Radiography and Quality Control
  • Takes all necessary studies and special views upon written request of clinician. Responsible for minimizing the amount of radiation exposure to both him/herself and patient. Employs techniques appropriately, efficiently, and effectively while responding to patient's needs. Processes films and makes duplicates when necessary. Assembles films for interpretation by radiologist.
  • Provides technical consultation to clinical and other radiology staff. Assists in giving results/films to clinicians or clinic.
  • Complies with department quality control and quality assurance monitors. Complies with all regulatory policies and procedures to assure the needs of patient and staff are met.
  • Maintains safety regulations and complies with Hazardous Materials Management Program per campus policy. Wears radiation dosimetry.
  • Performs all paper/computer work required to process patients and keep accurate statistics.
  • Assists with data entry.
2. Communication and Customer Service
  • Demonstrates effective and positive communications. Requests and accepts feedback.
  • Demonstrates courteous and service-oriented behavior at all times when interacting with patients, families and UHS staff.
  • Respects and guards confidentiality with patients and other staff members.
  • Problem solves patient relations: actively addresses complaints, concerns, and suggestions. Identifies and brings to the supervisor any problems that cannot be addressed.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to patients' concerns, provides sympathetic responses to patients questions.

  • Maintains attendance and follows call-in policy as per UHS guidelines
Required Qualifications
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills and experience.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to follow written and oral instruction.
  • Excellent customer service and people skills.
  • Experience working with diverse individuals and lifestyles.
Certifications
  • Current Certified Radiologic Technologist License issued by the State of California.
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (with CPR and AED certification from the American Heart Association)

Under California law, the University of California, Berkeley is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
This is an hourly-paid position at $53.31 (Step 1.0). Per diem positions are not eligible for the UC benefits plan.
