- Patient Interaction: Greet and prepare patients for imaging procedures, explaining the process and addressing any concerns.
- Position patients correctly on the imaging equipment to obtain the required diagnostic images.
- Imaging Procedures: Perform a variety of diagnostic imaging procedures, such as X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, and fluoroscopy, based on physician orders.
- Adjust and control imaging equipment settings to achieve optimal image quality while minimizing radiation exposure.
- Radiation Safety: Follow strict radiation safety protocols to ensure the safety of patients, staff, and oneself.
- Use lead aprons and other protective devices to minimize radiation exposure during procedures.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on imaging equipment and report any malfunctions or issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Ensure that imaging equipment is calibrated and functioning correctly.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to discuss patient histories, obtain additional imaging when necessary, and provide relevant information for accurate diagnosis.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient information, procedures performed, and any relevant findings.
- Input data into the hospital or clinic's electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Quality Control: Implement quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of diagnostic images.
- Follow established protocols for image acquisition and processing.
- Continuing Education: Stay informed about advances in radiologic technology and participate in continuing education to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Compliance: NM Techs are responsible for ensuring compliance with CA DPH regulations and adhering to the rules and regulations of the assigned hospitals and/or clinics. This encompasses maintaining licensures, participating in required trainings, and overseeing tasks such as retrieving medical records to uphold regulatory standards.
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- CA DPH CRT License.
- CA DPH Fluoroscopy Permit.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Reliable source of transportation.
