Job Description: Radiology Scribe
Summary:
The position requires certification as a Radiology Technologist, Medical Transcriptionist or other related field with experience in radiology. Education shall also include specialized technical knowledge in the following healthcare subjects: medical science, terminology, pathology, anatomy, and physiology. Word processing required in addition to communication skills via telephone and electronic media.
Must be able to abstract, analyze, interpret, dictate, and/or transcribe the Radiologist’s/Physician Assistant’s verbal wording to accurately transfer verbal/written information into various computer and dictation/transcription systems. Requires strict attention to accuracy and patient/medical confidentiality because transcribed documents are permanent part of the medical record, are used as a communication tool between members of the healthcare team, and are forwarded to other professionals to provide continuity of care, as well as third party payors and attorneys for litigation purposes.
This position must work as a team in a busy environment acting as the first point of contact and liaison with Co-workers, Medical Imaging personnel, and Physicians/medical staff. Responsible to Radiologists and Physician Assistants for providing accurate and timely dictations and transcriptions for the Radiologist to review and medical sign off. Must be able to prioritize needs based on Radiologist(s)/Physician Assistant(s) input.
