Responsibilities
Provides Diagnostic Radiology scheduling and clerical support services in a professionally competent manner. Ensures timely distribution of reports. Maintains the department film, reports, and other records in accordance with all regulations. Answers and directs telephone calls in a pleasant and professional manner. Reviews and processes physician orders into the hospital order entry system accurately.
- Answers the telephone professionally and courteously within defined time. Projects a professional and pleasant voice in all telephone communications. Manages multiple calls while minimizing the time callers are on hold. Efficiently and accurately meets the needs of callers requesting information about procedures or reports performed within the department. Assists the radiologist, and physicians as needed in a professional and pleasant manner. Works closely with the registration department in processing outpatients through the department.
- Routinely utilized the Meditech computer scheduling module to schedule procedures in multiple departments within imaging. Verifies clinical history with the requested exam then enters orders into the order entry system accurately.
- Provides imaging interpretation reports and films upon request of the referring physicians and files films. Ensure timely distribution of reports to physicians nursing units or MIS via fax, courier mail, or volunteers.
- Establishes and maintains the patient records to comply with regulatory and legal requirements. Ensure prompt distribution and filing of reports and films. Maintains the 7-day file and long-term files. Purge reading room films daily.
- Assists in the monitoring of clerical/file process, recommending modifications for improvement. Represents the department as a super user for the Meditech computer information system. Inputs data and tests the functionality of the radiology and scheduling modules during all revisions and upgrades to Meditech. Updates the dictionaries within the radiology and scheduling modules.
Qualifications
- Medical terminology and clerical experience
- Programming/maintenance experience in Meditech Radiology and scheduling modules
- Word processing and computer data input experience
- Customer service skills in telephone communications
- Experience in a medical office or hospital environment.
- High school graduate or equivalent educational experience.
Pay Range
$26.40 - $35.54 /hour
