CT Scan Functions:
• Perform a variety of tasks involved in operating CT equipment to acquire scans of designated body portions. Adjust equipment for proper radiographic exposure techniques in accordance with radiation safety guidelines.
• Always reviews inpatient chart/EMR or outpatient order and confirms the clinical indication for the exam, and other pertinent information.
• Explain scan procedures to patients and address any special needs the patient may have.
• Perform phlebotomy and draw necessary labs for patients requiring i-Stat.
• Transport patients to and from all departments of x-ray (including Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, MRI, Interventional Radiology, and CT).
• Charge CT procedures in Meditech; able to modify orders.
• Demonstrate acceptable image quality standards by critiquing positioning, technical factors, and protocols.
• Understands and uses PACS systems.
• Interns must have direct supervision when performing CT exams.
• Qualified technologists need to be immediately available, or have physical presence, to always assist interns.
• In the setting of the Imaging Center at Augusta Health, Interns will work under the supervision of a State Licensed registered technologist.
