Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Emergency Management is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Radiological Planner.
The Radiological Planner will be responsible for the development and maintenance of the state Radiological Emergency Response Plan. The position will require collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure all aspects of the state Radiological Emergency Response Plan are current and meet all applicable state and federal guidelines. The Radiological Planner will also assist with reviewing and revising local Radiological Emergency Response Plans and coordinating planning and exercises with external facilities such as North Anna Power Station, Surry Power Station, and the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. The incumbent in this position will serve as the Radiological Plan Advisor during emergency operations center (EOC) drills and exercises. The Radiological Planner will be responsible for needs assessment, design, implementation, and evaluation of public protection and information.

Minimum Qualifications
• Progressive experience in developing planning programs, plans, or government or private business.
• Experience writing, updating, and validating strategic and operational level plans
• Working knowledge of federal radiological regulations and guidelines
• Experience collaborating with a diverse group of stakeholders
• Experience with local or state, or state government programs.
• Experience to facilitate & coordinate resource & equipment needs.
• Prior work experience in project management.
• Proficiency with computers to include Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment, to build rapport and collaboration as well as serve as a resource.
• Ability to work well under pressure while meeting critical deadlines with competing priorities.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record.

The salary for this position is negotiable up to the maximum hiring range listed in this posting. Offers will not be made outside of the hiring range. This is a restricted position due to funding sources.
