Job Summary
Under the direction of a radiologist, performs general radiographic examinations at a technical level not requiring constant supervision on the night shift. Performs a variety of technical imaging procedures that entail application of ionizing radiation; therefore, prudent judgment, strong technical skills, and commitment to patient safety are considered requisite professional characteristics for individuals assuming the position as a general radiologic technologist.

Radiography Technologist II: Level II is intended for candidates with 1 – 3 years of experience with required fluoroscopy competency. Denver Health is invested in its team members, and we will help you get here if you do not yet qualify! On the job training is available to qualify for this level.


Essential Functions:

  • Conduct Diagnostic Radiography imaging exams during overnight shift. Comfortability with operating in all required in-patient areas of need: OR, ED, trauma.
    A thorough clinical understanding of intricacies of fluoroscopy necessities.
    Provide cross coverage support when staffing needs arise.
    Acquire and maintain super user status for specialized perioperative service imaging needs. This includes, but is not limited to, the O Arm and 3D C Arm.
    Provide comprehensive training on all nuanced functionalities and operational intricacies of the advanced perioperative imaging systems to fellow Radiography Technologists.
    Acquire and maintain super user status for all radiographic imaging equipment including fixed and mobile units.
    Acquire and maintain knowledge of all pediatric subspecialties including all essential mobile imaging standards along with Non-Accidental Trauma studies. (45%)
  • Effectively interacts with Denver Health’s PACS system through compliance with data entry, image post-processing, image archiving tasks, image quality assurance, and other related user interface activities. Uses Epic to input patient examination data and to place patient orders, when appropriate. Notates within the appropriate electronic/hardcopy document, as necessary, all pertinent patient information to comply with patient screening, ordering, charting, and medical record requirements. (15%)
  • Ensures patient safety, comfort, and personal dignity by following appropriate patient care guidelines to include use of 2 patient identifiers. Transports patients to and from the Department of Radiology, as needed, to prevent patient flow delays. (15%)
  • Assists in the maintenance of department inventory by ordering, stocking, and performing inventory checks on those medical supplies utilized when performing general radiographic examinations. Maintains imaging and processing equipment by performing scheduled cleanings and tests; results of all cleanings and tests are documented, as appropriate. Contacts service personnel and notifies supervisory staff of equipment malfunctions. Maintains a clean and orderly working environment through wiping down examination tables, changing linens, stocking supplies, and washing/disinfecting general radiographic equipment. (20%)
  • Attends and participates in departmental huddles, general intradepartmental meetings, and Radiology’s inservices. (5%)


Education:

  • Associate's Degree Required


Work Experience:

  • 1-3 years performing diagnostic radiography & fluoroscopy imaging Required


Licenses:

  • BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association Required and
  • RTR-RT Radiography - ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Required


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge in how to operate general radiographic equipment and related technology.
  • Demonstrated competency in the performance of general radiographic imaging studies.
  • Knowledge of how to address age-specific care needs of patients and effective interpersonal skill sets that lead to productive communications and collaborations.
  • Competency in interpreting physician order requests for general radiographic imaging studies.
  • Ability to exercise prudent judgment in selecting and configuring equipment settings to compensate for patient physiologic variances.
  • Ability to consistently produce quality images of various anatomical structures.
  • Ability to handle patient specimens and laboratory equipment.
  • Ability to maintain the expected level of competency.
  • Knowledge of safety and infection control practices to ensure a safe environment of care.
  • Microsoft Office Suite experience required.
  • Electronic Health Management experience preferred.
