An exciting opportunity exists for an Radiographer to join our Tacoma Foundry. The Radiographer role is to perform production radiography on castings and weldments in line with company goals and objectives serving internal customers. This will be achieved with safety as a priority and to achieve standard cost while upholding our quality and delivery requirements.
SHIFT: 3:00pm-1:30am (Training on days for 90+ days)
WAGE: $24.68-$28.68
Nature and Scope: The Radiographer Level I role is to perform production radiography on castings and weldment using radioactive isotopes and high energy X-Ray in compliance with State of Washington regulations and plant policy and procedures, and to achieve the business unit's mission and business plan.
Primary Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
  • Ensure compliance with State of Washington and organizational health, safety, and environmental rules and regulations
  • Review customer specification requirements within the system
  • Establish and implement radiographic techniques on castings and weldments in accordance with customer specifications
  • Review completed radiographs for compliance with technical specifications and applicable acceptance criteria
  • Complete required paperwork to support radiographic inspection and Washington State Department of Health (DOH) requirements
  • Assist with guidance and training of Radiographer Trainees
  • Keep work area clean
  • Alert supervisor to any safety or quality issues needing attention
  • Alert supervisor to any maintenance needs
  • Recommend process improvements
  • Participate in special activities, projects, and programs in order to support Bradken’s safety, quality, and productivity goals
  • Other duties as assigned or requested
Qualifications:
  • Previous or current Society for Non-Destructive testing - Technical Committee (SNT-TC-1A) Level I certification and Industrial Radiography Radiation Safety Personnel (IRRSP) certification
  • Must be able to provide previous exposure records upon request
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
Skills and Knowledge:
  • Computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft word and excel
  • Strong Math skills including basic algebra
  • Knowledge of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Code and Military specification helpful
  • Background in welding and/or metallurgy helpful
Physical Requirements:
  • Able to walk on uneven surfaces
  • Able to lift 60 pounds
  • Able to twist, stoop, bend, and stand in the performance of job duties
  • Able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Must be capable of passing a near vision (Jaeger 1) eye exam with corrected or uncorrected vision and a brightness discrimination exam
  • Physically able to work in a restricted radiation area
Special Requirement: Job requires individual to work in a restricted radiation area. Although exposures are well below those allowed by WA State DOH and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) the individual will receive a dose of ionizing radiation while on the job. Increased controls mandated by NRC and WA State require the individual to be finger printed and finger prints forwarded to Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for processing. Background checks by Bradken for hew hires or individuals employed by Bradken for less than 3 years must be performed.
