Delivers treatments as a professional provider of patient care within the department, assuring the prescribed
course of therapy is followed as recommended by the physician and appropriately monitoring for adverse
side effects, placing patient safety at the forefront at all times.
Demonstrates critical thinking skills in patient care through thorough assessment of education, psychosocial,
and spiritual needs of the patient.
Follows appropriate technique in the provision of patient simulation procedures through education of the
patient, individualization of the setup to assure patient safety, construction of proper custom blocks and
completion of all required dosimetry forms.
Demonstrates competence in brachytherapy procedure, knowing safety policies and procedures, through
appropriate use of equipment and supplies, assuring proper documentation, and the ability to work
collaboratively with physicians, physicists, and other team members.
Collaborates with patients and their families and the interdisciplinary team to ensure care achieves the
desired outcomes and promotes continuity of care through consultations with other team members as
necessary as well as reporting critical values (lab, radiology reports, pain, etc.) to physicians and other team
members in a timely manner.
Shows consideration of special needs and behaviors of specific age groups through patient specific
education, speaking at an understandable level, explaining what to expect, scheduling, and assuring privacy
is always maintained.
Assists in performance and quality improvement initiatives by assisting in required data collection,
identification of issues that may require monitoring, suggesting recommendations to improve care, and by
participating in analysis of quality issues as requested.
Supports and promotes patient safety, infection control, and risk management by reporting adverse
occurrences in a timely manner, following hazardous waste procedures, following all safety and disaster
plans, and providing a clean, safe and secure environment.
Demonstrates maturity and accountability for job performance by assuring compliance with all corporate
compliance regulations, annual competency testing, and review of departmental procedure manual on an
annual basis.
Models appropriate employee behavior through effective behavior in stressful situations, actively promoting
communication through all levels of the organization, demonstrating a team player attitude, and observing
proper dress guidelines at all times.
Required Minimum Education: Vocational/ Technical Degree
Specialty/ Major: Radiation Therapy Technology
Required: Board Certified with ARRT; Licensed Radiographer in the State of Ohio
Minimum Years and Type of Experience: 1-2 years experience preferred
