The Department of Radiation Oncology at Mayo Clinic is seeking a Radiation Oncologist to join our practice in Mankato, MN. The ideal candidate is a clinician who will continue to build a dynamic radiation oncology practice while working in conjunction with physicians from the Mayo Clinic Health System as well as other community and regional providers. This is a full-time clinical opportunity.
All our Midwest community departments of Radiation Oncology are based out of our Rochester, MN practice, a leading cancer center for innovation and excellence in patient care. The total Midwest practice includes a robust team of 42 MD physician staff. The department has a fully accredited residency program with 12 medical residents and this position includes participation in education efforts for residents and medical students. The Medical Physics Division has 18 faculty and 26 clinical medical physicists and supports a medical physics residency as well as doctoral degree students. Opportunities for research and education exist through the integrated academic and community Radiation Oncology practice in the Midwest. The Mayo Clinic is an NCI Comprehensive Cancer Center with unparalleled support for clinical and translational trials. Clinical research opportunities also are available through the Rochester Radiation Oncology Department, the Alliance for Clinical Trials and NRG cooperative groups at all regional sites. The Mankato Radiation Oncology department is located within the Andreas Cancer Center that was built in 2009 and is accredited by the American College of Radiology, and is certified by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. The Cancer Center encompasses greater than 18,000 square feet and includes 10 clinic exam rooms, 2 linear accelerator vaults and a dedicated CT simulator. Equipment in the clinic includes: 2 Varian TrueBeam treatment machines with, OBI, cone beam CT capabilities, and ExacTrac dynamic installation expected this year; a GE Lightspeed CT simulator with 4D capability and Advantage Sim; Eclipse treatment planning; ARIA informatics; an integrated electronic medical record shared throughout all Mayo Clinic sites, and all advanced modalities of diagnostic and nuclear medicine imaging available either locally or through Mayo Clinic Rochester.
The physician will join one other Radiation Oncologist in Mankato and will be supported by 1.7 RN staff, 2 Advanced Practice Providers, 2 physicists and a team of regional Mayo dosimetrists, in addition to the radiation therapist and support staff. The primary schedule will be days, with the responsibility being to provide care and treatment of outpatients at Mayo Clinic Health System. Inpatient care is shared between Radiation Oncologists in Mankato. After hours call rotates between local providers.
