JOB SUMMARY
Under close supervision of the Aquatic Manager, performs professional duties in ensuring effective performance of lifeguard functions. Ensures that all lifeguards are fully competent in performing water rescue procedures and coordinates in ensuring safety of patrons by enforcing rules. Shows mastery of the lifeguard position and consistently performs lifeguard duties and expectations at a five-star level.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Performs all lifeguard responsibilities including monitoring pool activities, applying first aid, and performing water rescues as necessary
- Ensures swimmers are well supervised in the pool and on deck. Fills in for lifeguards as necessary.
- Serves as a mentor to new lifeguards by orienting them to job duties and responsibilities.
- Keeps management team informed of pool maintenance needs, staffing needs and safety concerns.
- Coordinates and conducts in service trainings. Provides feedback during training to ensure lifeguards are fully competent in first aid, CPR and all water rescue techniques.
- Enforce Quarry policies, rules and regulations.
- Responsible for representing the Park District in a professional manner.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
This position requires the completion of three years of high school or 18 years of age and two years lifeguard experience or previous lifeguard supervisory experience.

- Aquatic certification
- Strong swimming and/or lifeguard skills
- Aptitude to perform under high pressure time sensitive situation.
- Decision-making skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with patrons, supervisors and other employees
- Ability to remain alert, attentive and responsible
- Ability to portray a professional image of the District
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
Requires frequent sitting and walking with occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling and crouching. Occasionally lifts and/or moves items weighing up to 30 pounds, rescues may require lifting up to 300lbs with assistance. Most activities are performed outdoors; including hot, humid and wet conditions. May be occasionally exposed to chemicals associated with normal beach maintenance. Exposure to a quiet noise level while in office and a moderately loud level white outside.
Hourly Rate: $18.50
