Position Objective, Typical Duties and Responsibilities
Join our dynamic team as a Quantitative Analyst where will play a pivotal role within the Pensionmark Investment Team's Data & Analytics function, serving as a subject matter expert in all aspects related to data analytics and data science.
By leveraging advanced quantitative methodologies, the Quantitative Analyst will provide crucial insights and support for various Investment Team activities, including investment product screening, manager/strategy research, asset allocation modeling, risk analysis, performance attribution analysis, and portfolio management decision analysis.
By excelling in these responsibilities, the Quantitative Analyst will contribute significantly to the effectiveness and success of the Investment Team's decision-making processes and overall performance.
- Serve in the Pensionmark Investment Team’s Data & Analytics function and act as subject matter expert for Investment Team in all areas related to data analytics/data science.
- Provide data science and data analytics service and expertise on work and projects that support various Investment Team activities, such as investment product screening and scoring, manager/strategy research, asset allocation modelling, risk analysis, performance attribution analysis, and portfolio management decision analysis.
- Conduct ad hoc and recurring data analytics and data science projects, tasks, and assignments under the supervision and direction of the Pensionmark Chief Investment Officer (CIO) and/or Investment Team leadership.
- Define and understand Investment Team problems and needs through various communications and meetings with the CIO, Investment Team leaders, and/or Investment Team members.
- Collect, clean, and wrangle relevant data and information from multiple data vendors, third-party sources, and internal sources.
- Analyze data and information of varying complexity using advanced data analytics and data science methods, models, and techniques.
- Condense work results and/or recommendations into concise, relevant, and understandable deliverables and visualizations for the CIO, Investment Team members, and/or other audiences, including Pensionmark clients.
- Develop and maintain relevant documentation for projects, tasks, and assignments.
- Improve models, code, tools, and infrastructure that support Investment Team activities.
- Continually develop knowledge of statistics, quantitative modeling techniques, programming, and investments/finance knowledge and topics both independently and in collaboration with other Investment Team members.
- Ensure all activities are in compliance with applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Additional related responsibilities and work as assigned by the CIO and/or Pensionmark leadership.
Position Requirements
- Excellent analytical and reasoning skills, demonstrated from hands-on professional experience using quantitative methods and models, advanced statistical analysis, and data manipulation to solve business problems.
- 2 to 5+ years of professional experience required in a quantitative or analytical role with demonstrable professional modelling, analysis, and programming experience. Preferred experience includes investment analysis/research, asset allocation analysis and modelling, financial/economic time series analysis, and other applicable investment/financial related experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree required; MS in data science, financial engineering, statistics, applied math, computer science or related quantitative field preferred. Completed or in-progress certifications in investment/financial analysis such as Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Financial Risk Manager (FRM) preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of R and/or Python for programming, statistics, and graphics, especially using packages and techniques for investment/financial applications and visualization.
- Strong aptitude for working collaboratively in a team environment while working in a fully remote capacity. Ability to work with leaders and teammates to reconcile research projects and results with broader team and business goals.
- Highly effective verbal and written communication skills.
Compensation
The salary for this position generally ranges between $67,500-$82,500. This range is an estimate, based on candidate qualifications and operational needs. The firm also has a bonus program.
