Quality Sensory Panelist – Decatur, IL
This is a part-time, on-site, hourly position
Schedule:
ADM is hiring Quality Sensory Panelists to join our team in Decatur, IL. Quality Sensory Panelists evaluate the sensory quality of ADM’s ingredients and foods objectively using the senses of taste, smell, sight, following specific training guidelines in a consistent manner. You do not need any knowledge of sensory evaluations for this role. We'll conduct training upon hire. In this role, you will conduct quality evaluations on products produced at ADM production facilities to ensure our products align with our specifications before being shipped to our customers around the world. You will frequently consume soy and sweetener products in this role.

- Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 9AM to Noon (3 hours)
- Hours per week guaranteed, except when cancellation of a test day is announced at least one week ahead

Key responsibilities:
- This position involves periods of time spent sitting to conduct the evaluation while working closely with a team of 8 panelists
- Evaluate products by smelling and tasting as a group. Enter scores into a computer or on a paper ballot
- Discuss product attributes respectfully within a group setting
- Work in an environment with little or no knowledge of the products being tested
- Adhere to training standards to maintain homogeneity, repeatability, acuity percentages above 90%
- Participate in skill assessment regularly to maintain qualification of this role
- Be trained in specific methodology to describe and rate sensory quality of products
- Contribute to a positive work environment
- Responsible for adhering to specific sensory guidelines
- Willingness to conduct taste and sensory evaluations on the following foods or food ingredients:
- plant-based proteins, including soy and pea protein
- pulse ingredients and edible beans
- sweeteners
- flavors
- edible oils
- Ability to follow directions, work well in a group and communication opinions effectively
- Sensory acuity: ability to describe and differentiate between the senses
- Comfortable using a computer
- Good communicator
- Maintain good punctuality and attendance
