About the Position

The primary responsibility of the Quality Receiving Inspection Specialist is to perform and maintain material inspection and documentation for in-bound materials per VitalPath work instructions and Standard Operating Procedures.  In addition, this position will support Quality Control on an as needed basis. 

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspection of incoming materials and record results
  • Successfully operate automated measuring equipment as well as calipers and other tools
  • Inspect incoming raw material products per company procedures
  • Perform material cleaning processes, this may be customer defined or developed internally.  This may include ultrasonic cleaning, IPA wash, etc.
  • Verify functionality of materials or components by conducting tests or interpreting test data that would indicate deficiencies. 
  • Validate Supplier COC’s meet specifications, if not to initiate an NMR and document for possible Supplier SCAR.
  • Assist in review and writing of receiving/inspection work instructions with Quality Manager and/or Quality Engineer
  • Gather objective evidence on process or quality system deficiencies, organizing and presenting it to support company decision making.
  • Maintain incoming inspection log, investigate issues manufacturing may have with material and identify to purchasing any negative supplier trends in performance for corrective action
  • Assist in company audits as necessary
  • Additional responsibilities as determined by the department manager

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Previous experience in medical device manufacturing, preferably in the Quality or Receiving Inspection department
  • Must be able to make good decisions in a fast pace and stressful manufacturing area 
  • Must be able to communicate at all levels of the organization with good sense of integrity and promote team excellent
  • Proficient at reading supplier certificate of conformance and perform source inspections at sub-tier suppliers
  • Experienced at reading customer engineer drawings and diagrams, inspection instructions and checklists
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit for 3-4 hours at a time or stand 1-2 hours at a time. Must be able to lift 25 pounds
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English
  • Excellent math skills and strong verbal and written skills

Preferred

  • Associate’s Degree or higher and/or certification in quality principles
  • Experience inspecting tight tolerance machined components with complex geometry
  • Skillful with using measurement instruments such as micrometers, scales and fixtures
  • Familiar with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, pertinent ANSI/ISO standards, calibration methods and techniques
