This opportunity is working with our Legacy Silverton Medical Center which serves the heart of the Willamette Valley with a wide mix of services, many not typically available in a community hospital.


The Quality and Patient Safety Program Consultant focuses on maximizing performance on defined quality outcomes, improving safety, and increasing value for patients and the health system.

 

The QPSPC provides leadership and expert consultation in the design, development, implementation, and management of structures and processes related to quality and Patient Safety program goals by working directly with Legacy leadership, cross-functional teams, and system partners to achieve and sustain top performance. The QPSPC communicates complex concepts and leads others to solve complex problems, uses analytical thinking, tools, and improvement methodology to identify innovative solutions.

 

The QPSPC facilitates the development, planning and deployment of quality strategies at their assigned site and system program level through the identification of potential clinical and service issues that are at risk, to maximize outcomes for clinical practice, patient experience and overall quality process improvement. The QPSPC promotes and utilizes evidence-based quality improvement practices, providing leadership and technical expertise to improvement efforts through the application of continuous quality improvement principles.

 

The QPSPC is responsible for completion of all phases of quality and Patient Safety programs. They monitor and report performance on measurable objectives and milestones, collaborate with stakeholders within the system office and across all hospital and clinic sites and departments, and support the coordination of efficient, standard approaches to data analysis and improvement methodology

 

The QPSPC demonstrates and promotes a culture of quality improvement and safety, including building internal capability of staff and leaders on improvement methodology and safety principles.


Education:

Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.

 

Experience:

  • Minimum five years of applicable quality program management experience.
  • Minimum one year of experience in the healthcare field. Clinical experience preferred. 
  • Demonstrates experience in larger scale process improvement with measurable results.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and use of data analysis.

 

Skills:

  • Ability to apply evidenced-based practices and other quality improvement tools and techniques to address key organizational objectives.
  • Advanced problem-solving ability demonstrating creativity and commitment to supporting exceptional, reliable patient outcomes and efficient and cost-effective processes in all parts of the organization.
  • Active embrace of analyzing and making sense of complex data with experience in using data reporting tools.
  • Ability to coach and develop staff/teams according to their strengths, creating a structure that will promote self-directed growth and learning.
  • Excellent communication skills (interpersonal and written) including a high degree of emotional intelligence with the ability to influence and build strong relationships and partnerships.
  • Ability to provide inspiring change leadership to small, large, and multi-stakeholder groups, and ensures projects are composed of individuals with appropriate skills and expertise to ensure stakeholder and organizational needs are met.
  • Ability to navigate electronic systems applicable to job functions.
  • Sound facilitation, consensus building and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to develop and manage step-by-step work plans with well-defined tasks and milestones to ensure teams stay on established and endorsed timelines. 
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment working with many deadlines and performance goals that have significant financial implications.
  • Ability to anticipate and respond to barriers, identify gaps in efficiency and resources, and make quick changes to work plans in response to a changing internal and external environment.
  • Ability to prioritize projects in a self-directed manner and to reach appropriate analytical conclusions.

Licensure/Certification:

  • Certified Professional in Health Care Quality (CPHQ) preferred.
  • Lean or Six Sigma certification preferred.
