The Role:
The Quality Operations Specialist will be responsible for the Fast Response process at Grand Rapids, including running the daily plant Fast Response meeting, maintaining a log of customer complaints, working with Protect the Customer (PTC) teams to ensure required fast response timing is met, and reviewing all fast response required documentation for completeness and effectiveness.
What You'll Do:
- Responsible for the Fast Response process at Grand Rapids, including running the daily plant Fast Response meeting, maintaining a log of customer complaints, working with Protect the Customer (PTC) teams to ensure required fast response timing is met, and reviewing all fast response required documentation for completeness and effectiveness.
- Responsible for the bypass process at Grand Rapids
- Understanding the requirements for bypass and working with the manufacturing teams to ensure the bypass process is properly followed
- Leading the fast response and bypass process other responsibilities will include, monitoring customer scorecards, calculating and reporting out monthly plant quality metrics, processing and monitoring all temporary change requests (TDR), processing all change management changes to the plant floor including preparation, training and tracking of the change
- Tracking all quality team required training including safety talks and will be a BIQ element owner
- Champion bi-weekly scrap cross functional team, driving month over month scrap reduction projects
- Must work well with various disciplines, engineering, floor and shop personnel and outside auditors and support plant in achieving Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness Cost and Environment goals
- Complies with the terms of local and national labor agreements
- Coordinates with all necessary departments to insure adherence to product and process requirements
- Build and strengthen relationships between Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing
- Develop and ensure compliance to GMS requirements including standard work, work place organization, layered audits, business planning, etc.
- Ensure robust use of Change Management
- Ensure all customer issues are identified, resolved, and demonstrated for closure
- Function as the subject matter expert for fast response and bypass processes
- Participate in site GMS/IATF audits to ensure robust process implementation and adherence as required
- Participate in site basket weave process to ensure GMS is foundational and culturally sound.
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
- High School Diploma with 3+ years of relevant manufacturing experience
- Quality Systems knowledge
- Knowledge in SharePoint, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint – Intermediate level
- Experience in manufacturing and clear understanding of GM core business and processes that support the core business
- Robust understanding of GMS/BIQ and experience working in a GMS/BIQ Environment
- Current / previous experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience in quality and/or quality systems
- Demonstrated proficiency with the five key elements of GM’s Leadership Framework – character, personal capability, focused on results, interpersonal skills and leading change
- Able to communicate effectively with GM management and external stakeholders.
