Job Description
We are seeking a qualified individual to join our team as an Inspection Specialist. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the precision and quality of our manufacturing processes for machine components.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Conducting thorough inspections of precision machine components throughout the manufacturing process.
- Employing mechanical and electronic inspection methods to check the accuracy and completeness of layouts, as well as the correctness of machining and other processing.
- Performing surface plate inspections and visual examinations in accordance with customer requirements.
- Inspecting and testing in-process and finished products to maintain quality standards.
- Utilizing Coordinate Measurement Machine knowledge for accurate assessments.
- Undertaking additional duties, such as calibration, record-keeping, tumbling, deburring, and small assemblies.
- Documenting inspection results through the completion of required reports and logs.
- Approving incoming materials by confirming their adherence to specifications.
- Providing direct support to the production floor by assisting with the interpretation and development of manufacturing-related documentation and implementing proper measuring techniques.
- Fulfilling other duties as assigned by the Manager.
Skills/Qualifications:
- 3 or more years of experience in metal fabrication with hands-on inspection preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret documents, including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and blueprints.
- Proficiency in mathematical operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Skillful use of inspection tools and gauges, such as scribes, vernier calipers, height gauges, depth gauges, micrometers, cylindrical plugs and thread gauges, periphery or PI tapes, decimal scales, indicators, inspection fixtures, coordinate measuring machine, and other automated measuring devices.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Willingness to learn laser engraving.
- Excellent communication skills within a machine shop environment.
- Detail-oriented and capable of occasionally working in an oily and noisy environment.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds when required.
- Familiarity with optical comparators.
