Minimum Requirements

  • Current RN license required.
  • Current and valid CPR certification.
  • (3) years prior Experience and knowledge of statistics, data collection, analysis, and data presentation required.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills required.
  • (3) years Experience with, knowledge of, and ability to apply Joint Commission performance improvement standards and core measures required.
  • Previous experience with Joint Commission and CMS standards

Position Summary

The Quality, Infection Control and Employee Health Coordinator, will organize, and manage the quality improvement and medical affair program for the company. The incumbent will also develop, implement, and evaluate goals, objectives, policies, and procedures related to quality management, and medical affairs including patient safety in accordance with federal and state laws and accreditation standards to meet the needs of the organization.

The incumbent will support the mission, vision, values, and strategic initiatives of the company and will demonstrate a commitment of quality service to our patients, the public and our co-workers.

Position Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with the clinical directors and CNO to assure the development, implementation, and maintenance of a comprehensive Quality, Patient Safety, and Medical Affairs Program for the company.
  • Directs, implements, and evaluates the Quality/Patient Safety Plan, and MEC program for the company, and works with identified units or delivery components to design processes specific to their needs.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates goals, objectives, policies, and procedures related to quality management; reviews and revises as needed.
  • Works with the actions of clinical team members in regard to the Quality Department processes and procedures to assure compliance with the organization's goals and strategic plan. Provides feedback on performance to the Clinical Director.
  • Directs and refines the quality program based on patient safety data, infection control data, MEC and annual program evaluation.
  • Oversees the collection, analysis and reporting of financial and quality data related to quality improvement and clinical outcomes.
  • Promotes interdisciplinary collaboration, fosters teamwork, and champions service excellence.
  • Serves as a patient safety resource to Employees, Medical Staff, Managers, Physicians, and leadership in the organization.
  • Educates and trains the leadership, staff and Associates on the quality improvement program, infection control program, MEC and their respective responsibilities in carrying out the programs.
  • Facilitates and advises internal quality improvement teams.
  • Develops and provides ongoing Quality Management and MEC education to staff and team members.
  • Implementation of Performance Improvement Plans.
  • Shares results of efforts through system-wide reports and other communication methods.
  • Implements a system for distribution of monthly reports of event data to department managers and committees as applicable.
  • Actively facilitates committees such as Quality Council, Infection Control, MEC, and Patient Safety.
  • Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in the field of performance improvement/quality.
  • Conducts surveillance and follow-up of employee exposures to communicable diseases.
  • Functions within the RN scope of practice.
  • Assists with the compilation of data and computer input for Quality Assessment/Process Improvement and MEC.
  • Provides concise data and tracking of all exposures.
  • Evaluates and revises education programs for MEC, Quality and Safety.
  • Identify learning needs, strengths, and limitation within the facility.
  • Ability to collaborate with other disciplines to plan and deliver a sound educational programs for Quality and MEC.
  • Assist with nursing policies, train new staff members, understand clinical practice, be able to assess staff, develop programs and evaluate the efficiency, and integrate well performing practices into educational course.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrates awareness of an adherence to legal requirements pertinent to Quality, safety, MEC, and infection control.
