- Client s Digital Measurement and Tooling Team is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Technician with experience in the field of metrology.
- The primary responsibility of this role is to develop Polyworks projects used by quality and manufacturing teams to measure the dimensional accuracy of vehicle components, bodies, and equipment.
- The technician will also have responsibility to measure vehicle components, bodies, and equipment with portable CMM and 3D laser equipment.
- What candidate will be doing:
- Develop detailed digital measurement projects using Polyworks Inspector for manufacturing Quality Engineering to measure body and part dimensional accuracy.
- Responsible for Project development, testing, and validation.
- Projects will include visuals and steps to execute:
- Measurement and alignment to datums.
- Probe and scanning of features and surfaces.
- Output of gap and levelness measurements compared to CAD of mating parts.
- Output of a standardized report.
- Operate portable CMM Client equipment (FARO) to confirm Polyworks measurement project function and accuracy.
- Revise measurement projects considering feedback from users and stakeholders.
- Module Evaluation Support:
- Operates portable CMM Client (FARO) to measure body features and points to support evaluations related to how body panels and components change shape and position through the manufacturing and assembly process.
- Support requests from other departments that require portable CMM and laser tracker measurements.
- Develop a measurement plan to accomplish objectives from measurement requests.
- Prepare a measurement program within Polyworks to execute a measurement plan.
- Operate measurement equipment (FARO, Laser Tracker, Creaform Handyscan) to collect data.
- Analyze and summarize measurement data.
- Report results to requested stakeholders.
- Create specifications for the development of physical check fixtures used to measure vehicle component dimensional quality.
- Review specifications with stakeholders and check fixture vendors for feedback and revisions.
- Confirm design of check fixtures provided by vendors match to specifications and requirements.
- Measure the accuracy of the checking fixtures using portable CMM and laser tracker equipment.
- Qualifications:

- 2-year Associate's Degree in Engineering/Computer Science/Related field or Equivalent Experience.
- 1-2 years of experience working with digital measurement/metrology hardware (FARO, Leica, Hexagon, Creaform, CMM, Etc.) and software (Polyworks, PC-DMIS, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret 3D CAD models and annotations.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Computer Science or related field.
- Experience with.
- FARO (portable CMM equipment).
- Polyworks Inspector (3D dimensional analysis and quality control software).
- CATIA (CAD 3D modeling software).
- Creaform Handyscan.
- Laser trackers.
- GD&T.
- Computer programming for Polyworks macro development (Visual Basic, C#, Java, Python, Etc.).
- Vehicle fitting quality and/or checking fixtures.
