Job description

ABOUT OUR MISSION:
Optics 1 is a global leader in full-service design and production of electro-optic and navigation systems. Leveraging core competencies in defense technologies, Optics 1 provides unmatched, first-class mission solutions for military and law enforcement personnel.
We have a high-paced, high-energy environment focused on acknowledging individual and team successes, as well as overall growth. Optics 1 is a community that cares about the mission of our customers. Our team believes in supporting and enriching our community through engagement; whether that means giving back to our troops, veterans and their families, investing in next generation innovators through STEM education, or higher education initiatives, giving back is an important part of who we are as a team.
We are united by a unique culture and commitment to provide the highest quality products to those who serve.
POSITION PROFILE:
Looking to apply what you learn in class to a real-life business setting? Our Internship Program offers competitive paid internship opportunities at Optics 1’s national headquarters in Bedford, NH. The Internship Program is a combination of mentoring, learning activities, and project work designed to give broad exposure to the inner workings of a global corporation. The nature of the assignments will vary, allowing opportunities for creativity, while providing a practical and challenging business experience. The goal of the Internship Program is to provide current students with the opportunity to apply what they learn in class to a real-life business setting, while having the opportunity to learn about our industry. Optics 1 provides an atmosphere that is intended to broaden an entry-level candidate’s professional understanding of a corporate environment while promoting self-confidence and career development.
The Quality Engineering Internship offers exposure to leading edge optical products and technology through direct participation in the development of hand-held camera systems (thermal, visible, infrared) and laser devices (range finders, aiming lasers, laser illumination). The work will include hands-on time in the environmental lab, with opportunities to exercise math models, conduct analysis, or use of failure analysis tools to accomplish tasks. Given the variety of ongoing projects, interns are often able to work with the staff to guide their summer experiences towards areas of specific interest while gaining realistic exposure to a fast-paced engineering environment with ample opportunities to make an impact.
