Rock West Composites, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Engineer. This position is onsite at our San Diego-North location. Facility located at 7919 St Andrews Ave, San Diego, CA 92154.

Position Summary:
Focus on addressing upfront flow PDOs technical review and approvals. Responsibilities to focus on reviewing Manufacturing Plans and Specifications to determine product quality requirements and generate quality plans (FAI Layouts, IPD sheets and AS9102 Forms) to ensure compliance and timely delivery to support sales. Lead MRB process and develop quality continuous improvement activities, developing corrective actions and resolution for non-conforming material issues. Generate the appropriate documentation, records, and reports. Support quality assurance, engineering, and operations as needed. Quality experience in a composite manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
Essential Function:
- Liaison between Program Management, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing and Customers relative to addressing issues and concerns with customer specifications, customer quality requirements, and concessions.
- Perform purchase order contract review and ensure flow down of requirements.
- Review and approve manufacturing planning (UFF PDO's) to ensure all quality requirements are met and properly flowed down.
- Oversee PPI MRB process to provide weekly resolution of non-conformances. Lead root cause and corrective action activity.
- Demonstrated analytical approach to data driven problem solving and metrics. Assist in implementation of quality improvement programs. Ability to manage CAPA process and lead RCCA teams and activities
- Update and maintain QMS procedures, support related AS9100, NADCAP and Customer audits and surveys.
- Monitor manufacturing processes through periodic Internal Audits and evaluations to ensure processes are followed and improved to prevent product and process nonconformities. Knowledge of tooling control, M&TE and configuration control and change management is required.
- Prior experience in AS9100 aerospace manufacturing environment required, NADCAP Composites and NDT-UT experience a plus.
- Proficient with GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and inspection techniques and dimensional inspection experience is required.

Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in aerospace, aircraft, or defense manufacturing
- Boeing experience is a HUGE plus
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategies in a fast-paced aerospace production environment.
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with all levels of company personnel, suppliers and customers. Spanish speaking a plus.
- MS Office computer skills required and familiarity with SAP a plus.

Compensation:
The total compensation range for this position falls within $80,000 and $100,000. The final compensation will be determined based on experience, skillset, and other factors permitted by law.
