We are seeking a dynamic Quality Director to join our team in east Houston. The Quality Director oversees the activities of the quality control department and develops and maintains the company’s quality program.
Responsibilities:
- Develops and implements quality control training systems
- Ensures compliance with all site and company regulations, including personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements
- Develops and oversees the division's quality control operating budget
- Maintains and communicates company quality standards to production teams
- Monitors the performance of quality control systems to ensure effectiveness and efficiency
- Evaluates policies and procedures to minimize nonconforming products and implements proactive solutions
- Conducts root cause analysis on nonconforming parts and facilitates timely corrective actions
- Generates inspection reports as necessary
- Manages calibration equipment inventory and certification records
- Communicates quality-related information to internal and external customers
- Stays updated on industry practices, advances in quality control procedures, and tools
- Reviews technical requirements and project documents
- Prepares, transmits, and secures all required documentation
- Ensures accuracy and alignment of quality documentation with customer and code requirements
- Proactively resolves internal and external technical conflicts or issues
- Coordinates and assists clients with inspections
- Conducts vendor surveillance
- Oversees and reports the status of quality-related information to clients, North Shore Steel team, and other stakeholders as needed
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing quality assurance control
- Previous experience developing and implementing quality management programs
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline preferred
- Proficient in interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and quality requirements for Oil & Gas, Department of Defense, Aerospace, and/or Commercial industries
- Previous experience leading a team
- Thorough understanding of ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality management systems
- Knowledge and application of AWS and ASME codes and standards
- Excellent time management skills with a track record of meeting deadlines
- Proficiency in data analysis and statistical methods
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Maintain visual acuity as required by industry standards to review specifications.
- Fine motor skills necessary to manipulate measurement instruments.
