Description:

Overview:
The Quality Data Analyst is responsible for monitoring quality performance using a data-driven approach including data collection, trending, and analysis. Responsible for the distribution of regular and ad hoc statistical reports to appropriate departments, committees, and external organizations. The Quality Data Analyst provides project management support to the Senior Project Manager in the Quality department. In partnership with the Senior Project Manager and the Senior Director of Quality, Safety, and Regulatory Affairs, the Quality Data Analyst will develop and implement long-term quality strategies for reporting processes in order to track quality improvement. Works in collaboration with all clinical departments, Medical Staff, Health Information Management, Information Technology, Occupational Health, Infection Control, and Institute for Aging Research to support quality initiatives for HRC. Exercises discretion in maintaining the confidentiality of documents and information.
Responsibilities:

Core Competencies:

  • Ability to collect large quantities of data and analyze it (with support from content and clinical experts) to select those facts that are relevant for the intent of the project and to communicate them in a concise, accurate and timely manner.
  • Excellent writing skills and ability to report on data and trends both statistically and visually.
  • Knowledge of quality improvement reporting and data analysis tools used in the industry.
  • Knowledge of how to support a project with outcomes and work along a project timeline.
  • Ability to multi-task and work with deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail, inquisitive mind, and ability to handle confidential information.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare, public health, data management, organizational management, computer science, epidemiology, or related field is required. Masters’ degree is a plus.
  • Excellent computer skills using MS Office—Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visi
  • MS Excel skills should be at minimum intermediate level—experiential knowledge of pivot tables, v-lookup function, etc.
  • Ability to work with a variety of IT Systems. Experience with Meditech Expanse, RL Datix, Minitab, or other Decision Support Systems a plus.
  • Must have strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Must be able to multi-task and prioritize simultaneous projects and deadlines.
  • Must be detailed oriente
  • Be comfortable with ambiguity in the context of problem-solving and exercise good judgment in the analysis of facts and circumstances surrounding individual problems and in determining action to be taken within limits of standard or accepted practi

Responsibilities:

Data Collection, Analysis and Reporting

  • Data collection, validation, analysis, and reporting for departments of Quality (70%), Infection Control (10%), and Occupational Health Services (20%)
  • Collect and organize data from various sources i.e. Meditech Expanse, RL Datix, Excel tracking spreadsheets, etc.
  • Performs healthcare Quality Data drilldowns and statistical analysis using visual representations such as Excel tables, bar charts, line graphs and Minitab control charts, time series graphs, etc.
  • Create and maintain a large collection of quality dashboards or scorecards showing a variety of quality measures for patient risk, patient experience, and other healthcare quality outcomes as needed.
  • Under guidance of immediate supervisor, investigates root cause analysis when quality measures fall outside of established benchmarks.
  • Functions as a resource and has the ability to research references for reliable benchmarking data.
  • Acts as member of HRC quality committees and meetings by participating in discussion on program planning and presenting data reports as needed.
  • Coordinate physician review summaries and provide data reports for quarterly Utilization Review meetings.
  • Write original quality performance summaries and create graphs on quality outcomes for the annual report to The Board of Registration in Medicine (BORiM) in addition to coordination of collection of report elements from other persons or departments.
  • Ensure all data integrity, accuracy, and timely submissions to appropriate recipients.
  • Create dashboards for external facilities by request.

Administrative Duties

  • Schedule meetings, schedule rotating presenters, prepare materials including tables, charts, and graphs, take meeting minutes noting action items for quality committees and meetings: Quality Assurance & Process Improvement (QAPI) Committee; service line QAPI meetings; Quality & Safety Committee; DPH and CMS regulatory readiness, etc.
  • Review and track all external Department of Public Health (DPH), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS), and Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) communicatio
  • Possess working knowledge related to law and regulation as it relates to patient confidentiality and data integrity.
  • Create surveys using SurveyMonkey as needed

Project Management (PM) and Support

  • Organize and oversee quarterly Quality Awards for two service lines at two sites.
  • Collect, track, analyze and report on data for 72-hour and 30-day follow-up phone calls to patients discharged from the rehabilitative services unit at two sites.
  • Train and serve as “Super User” for Meditech Expanse database called Business Clinical Analytics (BCA)
