Job Function –

Supports management staff in the implementation and management of the lending program. Maintains awareness of changes in the bank’s underwriting and/or pricing provisions. Maintains high levels of service to management and other bank employees.

Job Responsibilities –

Performs Quality Control reviews of loan documentation on new and renewed loans to reduce the risk of loss to the bank.

Surveys contents of all loan files, or a sampling, to ensure the loan file satisfies Federal and State regulatory standards and compliance guidelines.

Performs reviews timely, ensuring consistent adherence to loan policies and guidelines in addition to meeting all legal and regulatory compliance requirements.

Provides reports, maintains documentation, and makes recommendations to management for QC improvement in processes related to loan files or areas of evaluation.

Assists in the development, implementation and on-going monitoring of QC policies and procedures to ensure compliance with scopes of work.

Develops, utilizes, and maintains review checklists that address appropriate regulatory and policy requirements and revises as needed for policy or regulation changes.

Assists in the management of the accounting and reconcilement processes/review for Loan Operations including but not limited to general ledger reconciliation, daily file maintenance and other tasks as needed.

Supports the Credit underwriting team by providing accurate, concise and constructive feedback details.

Assists Compliance Officer and management as needed.

Serves on the Compliance Management Committee.

Verifies data held on the bank’s core system to ensure coding agrees with the credit approval and supporting documentation held in the imaging system.

Identifies missing or incorrect documentation in loan files and seeks solutions to problems uncovered in the reviews. Follows-up on unresolved issues to ensure resolution.

Provides support and coaching and interacts with loan processors and less experienced Quality Control staff to ensure adherence to bank policy and regulatory requirements, particularly SOX regulation requirements.

Responds to staff and management as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the scope assigned.

Collaborates with the Audit department to ensure adherence to pertinent SOX regulations.

Works closely with Audit and Compliance to ensure necessary QC elements are in place to address audit and exam findings.

Using daily file maintenance reports, verifies all maintenance performed, particularly those affecting SOX, and ensures supporting documentation is in file.

Manages and oversees less experienced Quality Control staff in carrying out the QC functions as necessary.

Maintains a status tracking/scoring system for loan processing staff relating to the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of their respective loan files.

Ensures that own work is in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies and guidelines.

All other duties as assigned by Bank Management.

Education and Related Experience –

  • Bachelor’s degree, notarial commission, paralegal certificate or equivalent work experience required working in the loan operation functions for a financial institution required.
  • 5+ years of compliance and/or Quality Control experience required.
  • 2+ year’s previous loan administration experience preferred.
  • CRCM Certification preferred.

Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements –

  • Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to operate a keyboard if required performing the essential job functions.
  • Ability to read and interpret a document.
  • Ability to travel if required to perform the essential job functions.
  • Ability to lift/move/carry approximately 20 pounds if required to perform the essential job functions. If the employee is unable to lift/move/carry this weight and can be accommodated without causing the department an “undue hardship” then the employee must be accommodated; hence, omitting lifting as a physical requirement.
