Summary: The QA inspector/operator ensures that good manufacturing practices and procedures are followed. They will aid in documenting discrepancies to eliminate the production of nonconforming material upstream in the manufacturing process. They will mitigate the release of nonconforming material if it is not captured during or before processing. The operator portion will consist of reworking nonconforming material along with producing specialty cuts from a variety of finished goods formats via a subtractive slitting process.
Job Duties:
- Walks the manufacturing lines to inspect for nonconformance in the raw material or process; documenting discrepancies and reporting these to their supervisor
- Shadow coating operators on a random interval basis to document discrepancies with standard practices
- Prevent the use of nonconforming material in the manufacturing process
- Document and report the production of nonconforming material throughout the entire production process
- Document and report sources of nonconforming material
- Quarantine nonconforming material for evaluation
- Inspect nonconforming material for rejection and reworking
- Rework nonconforming material into first-quality material
- Operate slitting machine to process the material into specialty cuts
- Packages slit material for shipment
- Performs other job duties related to preventing the production of second-quality material and the mitigation of the release of said material
Required Skills:
- Ability to use spreadsheeting software
- Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to communicate professionally in a concise and accurate manner Physical Requirements:
- Ability to routinely walk up and down multiple flights of stairs
- Ability to routinely walk around the manufacturing facility
- Ability to lift 75 pounds unassisted
- Ability to stand for most of the working shift Useful Qualifications:
- Experience in a manufacturing setting
- Understanding of process flows of upstream and downstream effects
