Who We are:

Kingsbury, Inc. was founded in 1912 and is the leader in the design and manufacture of tilt-pad fluid film thrust and journal bearings for all types of rotating machinery, with thousands of installations worldwide. The Company is comprised of a Corporate office (Philadelphia, PA), two (2) manufacturing facilities (Philadelphia, PA and Oshkosh, WI) and two (2) repair and service facilities (Philadelphia, PA and Yuba City, CA) located in the United States. In addition, Kingsbury has one (1) manufacturing facility located in Göttingen Germany.


Internship Overview:

The Quality Intern is responsible for performing duties related to quality assurance and Quality Control supporting the core business processes. This intern will also be responsible for converting department work instructions into a visual format in conjunction with the quality team. You will also engage in the CAR (Corrective Action Requests) process to identify the root cause and establish sustainable preventive actions to eliminate non-conformance. The Quality Intern will develop a high-level understanding of ISO 9001:2015 and other regulatory requirements, and the effort required to ensure compliance and adherence to these standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Update work instructions by understanding process flow to capture in a Kingsbury standard format.
  • Uses various measuring devices including but not limited to micrometers, calipers, and height gauges to qualify manufactured to both internal and external specifications.
  • Interpret detailed blueprints, work orders, engineering specifications, and routing sheets.
  • Analyze inspection results and assist in addressing and resolving production problems causing deviations from existing standards.
  • Complete all required records and paperwork to include inspection reports, damage reports, and return reports.
  • Participate in and lead CARs (Corrective Action Requests) process.
  • Learn about QMS (Quality Management System) and how that applies to all aspects of the organization.
  • Engage in the internal auditing process.
  • Participate in gage calibrating and nondestructive testing.
  • Uses internal ERP system to collect department data to support data driven decision making.
  • Works under and adheres to all applicable ISO-9000 system level procedures and work instructions.
  • Attends all company required trainings and meetings. (ie safety and department meetings)
  • Completes special projects and other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

Experience: None required.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Must be pursuing a Degree in Quality Engineering or related field.

Preferred Experience: Prior work in manufacturing environment.
