POSITION OVERVIEW
The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for inspection and testing activities using a wide variety of inspection devices and testing equipment to determine compliance with customer, government, and military specifications and standards. Quality Control Inspectors make decisions as to the acceptability of customer parts for internal processing, validate that customer requirements have been met after processing and are responsible for documentation of non-conformances.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
With general supervision performs the following:
- Interpret and apply customer requirements, government and military standards, and industry specification for the inspection of customer product
- Read and interpret blueprints and drawings for determining inspection objectives
- Create job travelers with detailed work instructions necessary to comply with the customer’s ordering data and quality requirements
- Plan and devise methods for conducting inspection operations which include determining which tools, fixtures, and gaging instruments are to be used
- Perform equipment calibrations as necessary
- Conduct all mechanical measurements applying prescribed inspection methods and standards
- Inspect for tolerances using various instruments including, but not limited to micrometers, Vernier calipers, bore gages, tri-roll gages, and thread wires
- Set up, calibrate, and utilize x-ray for the purpose of taking plating thickness measurements and determining the ratio components deposited for alloy plating processes
- Prepare microsection samples and interpret thickness of plating from samples
- Maintain records and data supporting Quality Control inspection activities
- Performs housekeeping and follows safety regulations
- Works as an active team member by participating in problem solving, team building, and all other team activities to improve the processes, productivity, quality, etc. of the department
- Assists other team members as required

ESSENTIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
- Computer Skills: Must be computer literate, use of Microsoft Office is required
- Reading Comprehension: Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, job travelers, and communications
- Writing Skills: Ability to write English of a level required for Company shop documents and computer software entry
- Mathematical Skills: Basic math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division
- Equipment: Micrometers, Vernier calipers, bore gages, tri-roll gages, thread wires, x-ray
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education:
- Required: High school diploma or GED
- Preferred: Associate degree (A.A. or A.S.) preferably in the fields of business, science or technology
Certifications/Licenses: None
Experience:
- Required: 1 year experience, or equivalent skills and knowledge in inspection or quality related experience
- Preferred: 2 - 3 years’ experience, or equivalent skills and knowledge in inspection or quality related experience
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Physical Requirements: This position requires the employee to sit and stand frequently; lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 25 pounds; finger and wrist dexterity for repetitive motion
Must be able to stand, twist, lift, pinch, walk, bend, kneel and have hand and wrist dexterity. Required to wear PPE (i.e. face, foot, eye, hand, and/or hearing protection)
Work Environment: While performing duties of the job, the employee will work in a metal finishing environment. The employee will be exposed to fumes and vapors, high noise exposure. Exposure to chemicals, cold, heat, humidity, dust, fumes, and noise. We provide a regulated, safe/healthy environment for our employees.

This position requires access to United States Export Controlled information.

Pay: $19.58 - $24.00 per hour
