Job Description
SUMMARY:
Performs first article inspection on photo tool and first production parts. Performs receiving inspection of purchased product or service. Suspends production of a nonconforming product. Analyzes SPC data and prepares customer data packages.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform dimensional inspection to customer drawings and specifications using measuring equipment such as an optical comparator, video comparator, electronic depth and height gauges, micrometer, caliper and various gages.
Perform receiving inspection of purchased product or service to customer drawings, specifications, purchase order and vendor certification.
Suspend production of a nonconforming product, analyze the defect and generate a Nonconformance Report.
Prepare customer data packages comprised of SPC data that is analyzed and printed, along with customer required inspection reports.
Read and comprehend customer drawings, (in inches and millimeters) customer specifications, military specifications, parts lists and various other documents.
Following visual and dimensional inspection of parts by Assembly/Test Dept., examine entire work order for completeness of each operation. Compare the product package label to the workorder, assign shipper #, make copies of the data package for shipment and distribute to Contracts prior to final buy off of parts.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Possess in-depth knowledge of shop math in order to perform calculations for the inspection of parts; in-depth knowledge of inspection methods and gauges used in inspection to verify conformance of purchased or manufactured product to print specifications. Experience with standard inspection tools such as Micrometers, Calipers, Height Gauges, Threaded Plug gages, Threaded Ring Gages, V-Blocks, Optical Comparators, Profilometers required. Must be proficient in the use of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing based upon ANSI Y14.5M practices. Ability to read and comprehend blueprint drawings, customer specifications and any other written requirements.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two plus years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
