Quality Control Analytical Chemist / Engineer

As a Quality Control Chemical Lab Engineer, you will be responsible for the coownership of sustaining and improving our chemical lab operations including routine and special request management, qualifying and improvement equipment and methods while troubleshooting the same, guiding and training lab technicians, and the continual improvement of lab systems to ensure data accuracy and traceability. The lab is largely focused on routine chemical, environmental and wafer surface trace contaminant analysis to ensure the manufactured semiconductor devices can meet automotive quality requirements. Speed and reliability of lab results are essential. The improvement of methods and systems will be a large focus of this role necessitating the defining, development and implementation of data systems to ensure data accuracy while improving operational efficiency. Alignment of quality methods and systems to the parent TSMC company necessitates creative solutions to ensure we meet the corporate best practices while accommodating local risks and resources. Routine communication with our global sites is essential.
While this position is scheduled to work core business hours, Monday-Friday, there may be times when additional hours are necessary.
The salary ranges for this position are outlined below:
Entry level salary range: $66,912 - $100,368
Mid-level salary range: $80,294 - $120,442
Senior level salary range: $92,647 - $148,236
The final offered salary will be determined based on the selected candidate's qualifications.
Responsibilities include:

• Work as part of the chem lab team with another engineer and 4 technicians.
• Collaborate with other departments about daily job arrangement, special request handling, and systems and procedure improvements.
• Qualification of new tools including the development and implementation of the methods. Improve/optimize existing tools and methods.
• Familiarity with data systems to the extent of defining requirements for IT, and the ability to validate systems meet requirements. Knowledge of SQL, VBA, and Oracle, or similar, is a plus.
• Ensure the control plan is implemented effectively, including out of control action plans. This includes analysis of chemicals, wafer surface trace metals, airborne molecular contamination, and bacteria sampling. Retain records.
• Work as part of the larger TSMC company complying to corporate standards while adapting to local risks and resources. Drive for continuous improvement to improve effectiveness and efficiency. Proactively identify, prioritize and be responsible for solutions.
• Document and refine procedures to ensure their effective implementation, including error proofing. Ensure records are maintained and identify and implement validating self-audit practices.

Requirements:

• You will be handling hazardous chemicals, specifically concentrated acids and bases. A safety-first mindset is required. Quality only follows safety, but precedes all else.
• Experience the developing, troubleshooting, and the practical application of analytical chemical analysis methods including ICPMS, GFAA, IC, and Auto-titrator, FTIR.
• Familiarity with data systems to the extent of defining requirements for IT, and the ability to validate systems meet requirements. Knowledge of SQL, VBA, and Oracle, or similar, is a plus.
• Fluency with Microsoft office programs including Word, PowerPoint, Access and Excel including macros. Must have efficient data handling and analysis capability in excel including formulas, and pivot tables.
• Application of quality methods including MSA, calibration, DOE, SPC.
• Fluency in mandarin a big plus.
• Bachelor degree or higher in chemistry or similar.
• 5 years experience with IC manufacturing a plus
